Turkey is one of the four developing countries which has the highest dam construction activity in 1990’s took place. Even the present number of 36,000-plus dams worldwide will not be enough to supply water for twice as many people in the next 30 years. Therefore, technically safer, environmentally responsible and socially acceptable dams will no doubt be constructed in the near future.
